If you don’t have any plans for the Christmas holiday yet you are looking for some exciting things for you and the family to do, the Clarion Ledger has highlighted a number of events that are being held in Jackson you might consider attending that the whole family can enjoy.
Some of the fun and exciting activities that are going to be held in Jackson this year include:
Up until December 23rd, you and the family can attend the Canton annual Christmas Festival and “City of Lights” tour every night from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The lights and character parades will also be held on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Kids will be able to enjoy carousel rides, horse and buggy rides, trolley rides, and more. Now, because there will likely be a large number of people attending this event, especially on the weekends when there is more happening, remember to keep a close eye on your children to prevent any type of accident from occurring.
This event is open to the public up until January 6th and you can attend on Tuesday to Saturday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. as well as on Sundays from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Children will be able to enjoy “a white wonderland filled with train cars and a 45-foot Snowflake Slide. Santa will also be available to take photos.
Natchez is a charming town located just a short distance from Jackson where many holiday events will take place. Between the outdoor activities that will be held along with the Christmas Parade, there is plenty for you and the family to do here. Again, we do recommend that be extra cautious and careful when driving on the roadways in Jackson, especially as we draw nearer to the holidays and keep your small children close by to you when attending any type of parade or other outside events.

While we do encourage you to have fun this holiday season, we must remind you that now is the time to be vigilant and alert. Accidents happen much more frequently during the December holidays so you need to be prepared for any situation and know what you can be doing to prevent from engaging in one yourself. When you are out driving to any of the events cited above, keep a watchful eye out for any distracted or drunk drivers, even if you aren’t traveling too far from home to attend. Auto accidents have a tendency to occur closer to your residence so just because you won’t be spending too much time in the car doesn’t reduce your chances of engaging in a crash.
You and your children are also encouraged to be on the lookout for careless drivers when out walking. Whether it is through your neighborhood to look at festive lights or to get to one of the events being held this holiday season, remember to keep an eye out for cars that might not see you or aren’t willing to stop as most disregard pedestrian right of way which often leads to accidents occurring.
