Mike’s practice is focused in litigation and trial work for all of the firm’s clients. His trial experience is unparalleled in today’s legal market. He has tried many cases involving insurance bad faith, third-party administrator and agent liability, and insurance coverage issues. Mike’s experience includes almost thirty years of practice, so he is well equipped to advise clients in almost any arena involving litigation.
John’s practice is focused in general litigation with emphasis in healthcare law (including medical malpractice, False Claims Act litigation, Medicare/Medicaid audit defense, and regulatory compliance), personal injury, commercial/business litigation, insurance bad faith, wrongful termination, administrative law, workers’ compensation, and disability. John also maintains an appellate practice with past representation in the contexts of traditional appeals to the Mississippi Supreme Court, the Mississippi Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, as well as appeals from administrative agency determinations to Mississippi’s circuit and chancery courts.
A life-long resident of the tri-county area, Taylor has a diverse litigation practice including healthcare, employment, personal injury, business disputes, and appeals. Taylor’s appellate practice includes a wide range of appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the Mississippi Supreme Court, and Mississippi Court of Appeals, as well as administrative appeals to Mississippi’s circuit courts. Taylor also advises clients in the healthcare industry regarding state and federal healthcare regulations. These clients include Federally Qualified Health Centers, providers of mental health services, and home health agencies.
A lifelong Mississippian, Daniel has lived in all three counties of the tri-county area. Daniel began working with Heilman Law Group while attending Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi. From the pre-suit phase through appeal, Daniel litigates a variety of cases spanning personal injury, premises liability, professional malpractice, bad faith, complex commercial disputes, labor and employment law, and covenants not to compete.
While in law school, Daniel served as a Legal Intern to the Honorable James W. Kitchens of the Mississippi Supreme Court.
Rachel has been a paralegal with Heilman Law Group since 2003. She works almost exclusively in litigation. She has the privilege of working on matters from start to finish, investigating matters prior to commencement of lawsuits, providing support in drafting pleadings, assisting with trials, and working matters until conclusion at the appellate level, if necessary. Rachel specializes in trial practice and assists the firm’s attorneys at all trials.
Bethany joined Heilman Law Group in 2007. She graduated cum laude with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Paralegal Technology from Hinds Community College. She also received the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges. Bethany currently is studying for the NALA Certified Paralegal Exam. Her experience is broad, as she has provided paralegal services in a variety of legal contexts, including civil litigation, white collar crime, workers’ compensation, social security disability, healthcare law, and appeals to the Mississippi Supreme Court, Mississippi Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
